Daffodil Care Services operates a therapeutic support model called STEM. Systemic Therapeutic Engagement Model (STEM) provides a framework for positive interventions with young people to develop relationships focused on achieving strengths-based outcomes through daily life interactions.

Systemic Therapeutic Engagement Model (STEM) was developed organically by Daffodil Care following a significant period of research into the approaches that worked best with young people and families.

STEM uses Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Response Ability Pathways (RAP) and The Circle of Courage. It also incorporates the Developmental Audit (DA), Daily Life Events (DLE), Attachment Theory, Self-Awareness and a focus on Active Listening and Child and Youth Care (CYC) Practitioner approaches. The STEM training course was designed to;

  • Implement a best practice/standards-based and thematically organised curriculum
  • Facilitate an enjoyable and reflexive adult learner-centred environment
  • Use a specific therapeutic language and provide comprehensible input for instruction
  • Integrate individual and peer-learning in the DCS environment
  • Adapt and use peer-appropriate authentic materials
  • Conduct performance-based assessment
