Ethos and Philosophy

Daffodil Care has adopted a positive focused ethos as espoused by Reclaiming Youth International, Circle of Courage, Response Abilities Pathways® (RAP), Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Daily Life Events® (DLE).

In addition, we believe that everyone has the ability to change; we see problems as opportunities to learn, develop and grow. All Young People and their families have strengths and skills that can be nurtured and we will work to support these strengths.

Mission Statement

Daffodil Care is committed to providing a quality driven therapeutic residential and outreach service to vulnerable Young People and their families. We will achieve this by listening actively to Young People and families, comprehensive multi-disciplinary assessment, treatment and team guidance, embracing the concepts of trust, respect, understanding and empowerment and devising effective individualised therapeutic interventions which focus on strengths, resiliencies, and relationships.

STEM Model of Care

Daffodil Care Services operates a therapeutic support model called STEM. Systemic Therapeutic Engagement Model (STEM) provides a framework for positive interventions with young people to develop relationships focused on achieving strengths-based outcomes through daily life interactions.

Systemic Therapeutic Engagement Model (STEM) was developed organically by Daffodil Care following a significant period of research into the approaches that worked best with young people and families.

STEM uses Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Response Ability Pathways (RAP) and The Circle of Courage. It also incorporates the Developmental Audit (DA), Daily Life Events (DLE), Attachment Theory, Self-Awareness and a focus on Active Listening and Child and Youth Care (CYC) Practitioner approaches. The STEM training course was designed to;

  • Implement a best practice/standards-based and thematically organised curriculum
  • Facilitate an enjoyable and reflexive adult learner-centred environment
  • Use a specific therapeutic language and provide comprehensible input for instruction
  • Integrate individual and peer-learning in the DCS environment
  • Adapt and use peer-appropriate authentic materials
  • Conduct performance-based assessment
